‘Heroes and Villains’
Our year 6 students ran a fantastic ‘Heroes and Villains’ fund raiser to help our Farmers in need. The day involved Hero and Villain dress up, a quiz and sales of milkshakes and popcorn. $280 was raised – We hope it helps.
As part of our bush regeneration project our year 2/3/4 class went on an excursion to Bidgiwong Community Nursery. The students learnt about native flora of the Hills Shire and donned their gardening gloves to assist in propagating native plants from our own nature trail.During one of our Bush walks within the school grounds we came across a snail of unknown identification. Mrs McDowell took some photographs and sent them to the malacology department of the Australian Museum for identification. They identified it as a “ Fastosarion Freycineti” and sent the following message.“ This is a native semi slug found from Sydney up to Southern Old. It has red mucus, and I think the red globules on the rock are likely to be traces of mucus. Neither the eggs nor the droppings would be red. The eggs are a pale golden colour and have a spiralling top (like a soft serve ice-cream).The Museum were so delighted with Mrs McDowell’s photographs, they want to publish them on their website. Fame at last!
Our year 5/6 camp, which went to Milson Island with Middle Dural and Hillside PS, had a wonderful time canoeing, building fires, making damper, perfecting their archery skills and much more. A great outdoor experience for our students, strengthening skills and friendships and a trip they won’t forget in a hurry.
Fire safety demonstration
Our Kindergarten and year 1 had the privilege of a visit from the Rural Fire Service recently. The children discussed Fire safety and experienced using the brigades equipment. Thank you to Annangrove Rural Fire service for taking the time to develop our children’s awareness of fire safety.
