The Glenhaven Carols by Candlelight is in need of new sponsorship to ensure the event can continue to bring fun and festivity to the local community. The event is organised each year by a Committee of Volunteers, and supported by Glenhaven Rotary, but Chairperson Annie Bradley says the group is feeling the pressure.
“Each year the event attracts thousands of people, sharing in the festive spirit with their families and friends in the summer evening – capped off with Santa and a fireworks finale.
Unfortunately, with the event being so popular costs are increasing” said Mrs Bradley.Adding to the increasing costs, Mrs Bradley said the Committee was also feeling pressure from changes in sponsorship.
“We had the wonderful Louis Carr Real Estate come on board last year, which helped greatly as we lost a significant sponsor in 2017, however this year we may start to feel the pinch”
“Lots of local businesses have sponsored us over the years, and continue to sponsor us, however their own circumstances mean that this year some have had to withdraw or reduce their contribution. This is placing a bit of pressure on the finances of the event” said Mrs Bradley.
The event truly has the community at heart, in addition to providing a free event for thousands of locals, proceeds are donated to the local Glenhaven Rural Fire Brigade and The Hills Community Aid.
In the past donations have also been made to efforts such as drought relief.
“If there are any local businesses or organisations that would like to contribute to our event, we’d love to have them come on board” said Mrs Bradley.
