Do you want to get on the front page of Google without cost? It can be suprisingly easy depending on your business.
The top and bottom of a Google search can be made up with paid ads from Google AdWords. The good news is that many people skip the ad sections!
Google My Business listing
The first organic section is typically the ‘map’. To get your red map pin, register your business on Google My Business. If you don’t have a Google account, you can register using your normal domain name email address. Do not be alarmed that you need to put in your home address, if you work from home. You must enter a physical address so Google can send you a postcard with a code to enter into Google to verify you reside at that address. Once your postcard arrives and you verify your address, you can delete the street address and leave the suburb and move the pin slightly.
Online directories and Gumtree
If you search for your industry and location e.g. architect Dural, you will find below the map ten organic free listings, which will be a combination of individual pages and online directories. Identify the directories in the first few pages of Google and sign up for free listings only – yes even yellow pages! There are paid sites (like hipages, which can be a useful paid site) and paid options, though I recommend staying with the free listing and spend marketing money elsewhere. Gumtree at April 2017 was the 12th most visited site in Australia according to Alexa, so place a free ad! Good wording can reduce timewasters.
