Julian Leeser MP, Federal Member for Berowra, has announced $2.7 million of Federal Government funding for Greenway Park.
The funding will be used to construct the Greenway Community Sports House, which would provide female change rooms, shade for spectators, improved disability access, an all-purpose facility for club gatherings and a surface upgrade to the top oval. “This is fantastic result for the Cherrybrook community”, said Mr Leeser.
“Home to nearly 3,000 players and more than 8,000 supporters, Greenway Park is heart of the Cherrybrook local sporting community. I am extremely happy to make this much needed investment in Greenway’s facilities.” “Greenway Park has been home to many Australian champions over the years, including Michelle Jenneke, Kieren Jack and Mark Taylor.
Our local clubs will use this funding to develop the Australian champions of the future.” “The community have been calling for Greenway Park to be upgraded for over a decade”, said Phil Hare, Chairman of the Greenway Sports House Committee. “This is a phenomenal result that will make an enormous difference to the seven clubs and their players that call Greenway home”.
The Federal Government has fully funded the $2.7 million proposal to upgrade Greenway Park. “The Greenway Park clubs could not be more excited about the funding announcement. We are immensely grateful for Julian’s success in having this project funded.”
More than 300 people attended the funding announcement at Greenway Park in late May. “This project is a result of a very successful community collaboration”, said Mr Leeser.
“I thank the sports clubs involved for their incredible support as we campaigned to upgrade Greenway Park.” As part of the campaign to upgrade Greenway Park, Mr Leeser brought his colleagues out to inspect the grounds at Greenway, including Minister for Finance, Mathias Cormann; Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government, John McVeigh; and Assistant Minister to the Treasurer, Michael Sukkar.
The seven sporting clubs that call Cherrybrook’s Greenway Park home united to secure federal funding for a Greenway Community Sports House.
The clubs include:
• Penno Stags Rugby League Club
• Pennant Hills Senior AFL Club
• Westbrook Junior AFL Club
• Greenway Giants Baseball and Softball Club
• West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook Cricket Club
• Cherrybrook Senior and Little Athletics Centre
• Cherrybrook United Netball Club
