Local Kenthurst family, Steve and Amanda Lancaster and their children Courtney and Morgan, left for work and TAFE as part of their normal routine on 20th July. Unfortunately within a few hours of Steve reaching work, he received a call from a colleague in the Kenthurst Rural Fire Service advising that they were attending a fire in Kenthurst and that it was his home. Luckily their 4 dogs had escaped the house and were unhurt and no one else was home.
By the time the neighbours saw and reported the fire it had taken hold of the building and when the RFS arrived, the roof was already starting to collapse, so there was little they could do to save it.
The community and the Kenthurst RFS have already rallied around to provide support to the Lancaster as they lost absolutely everything. A gofundme account has been opened and there are lots of locals offering support via facebook.
If you want to help, this is the link for the gofundme account – details are also on the Dural Chamber’s facebook page. https://www.gofundme.com/support-the-lancasters
